How often should a boiler be serviced?

My radiators are cold at the bottom. Is that the boiler?

Usually not. Cold at the bottom means sludge sitting in the radiator, which is a system water problem, not a boiler fault. Testing the water tells you for certain.

Diagnose before quoting
A fault code tells you where to start looking. It doesn't tell you what's wrong. We test the parts the code points at, then replace what has actually failed.

Repair where repair is possible
A blocked heat exchanger or a seized diverter valve is a repair, not a new boiler. Plenty of boilers written off elsewhere are still working because of that distinction.

Commission and balance
After any significant work the system gets balanced so every radiator heats evenly, including the ones furthest from the boiler.
