Power flushing & central heating water treatment

We test the system water first, pH and dissolved solids both, so you know whether a flush is the answer before you pay for one. Then a hot flush and fresh inhibitor, and radiators that heat all the way to the top.

Covering North & Northwest London and the Hertfordshire borders, from our base in Colindale.

When people call us about this

  • Radiators cold at the bottom but hot at the top
  • Some radiators never heat up at all
  • Black water when you bleed a radiator
  • The boiler is noisy, banging or kettling
  • The system needs bleeding constantly

How the job runs

  1. 01

    Test the water first

pH and dissolved solids get measured before anything else. That reading tells us whether a flush will fix the problem, and it stops you paying for one that won't.

  2. 02

    Drain down and dose

The system is drained and a cleaning chemical goes in, then circulated hot so it lifts the sludge off the inside of radiators and pipework instead of rinsing past it.

  3. 03

    Flush hot, circuit by circuit

A hot flush with the flow reversed through each radiator in turn. Working one circuit at a time is what actually shifts debris out of the system instead of stirring it around inside it.

  4. 04

    Filter, inhibit and re-test

A magnetic filter goes on to catch whatever comes loose later, fresh inhibitor goes in to stop it starting again, and the water is tested a second time. You get a before and after reading.

Questions we get asked

How long does a power flush take?
Most domestic systems take a day. Larger houses with more radiators can run into a second day, and we'll tell you which before starting.
Do I actually need one?
Only the water test answers that honestly. If the reading comes back clean, you don't need a flush and we'll say so.
Will it fix a boiler that keeps cutting out?
Often, yes. Debris circulating through a heat exchanger causes overheating and lockouts. But it depends what the fault actually is, which is why the diagnosis comes first.
