When people call us about this

  • Hot water runs out faster than it used to
  • Water is lukewarm however long you wait
  • The cylinder is leaking or the immersion has failed
  • The pressure relief valve keeps discharging
  • You're adding a bathroom and want to know if the system will cope

How the job runs

  1. 01

    Size it around the house

How many bathrooms, how many people, how often at the same time. A cylinder sized on the actual demand is the difference between enough hot water and a bigger bill for the same problem.

  2. 02

    Install or repair

Vented and unvented, installation through to servicing and repair, including immersion heaters and controls.

  3. 03

    Service annually

Unvented cylinders are pressurised and need an annual check by someone qualified to work on them. It isn't optional maintenance.

From real jobs

“No job is too small”

Over the years he has done boiler servicing, power flushing, toilet repair and refurbishing, even a single tap fitting — no job is too small. Most recently he installed a new boiler and water softener for us. He is prompt, courteous, meticulous and his work is of the highest quality.

Questions we get asked

What's the difference between vented and unvented?
A vented cylinder is fed from a tank in the loft and relies on gravity for pressure. An unvented one is fed straight from the mains, so it delivers mains pressure to every outlet, but it's a pressurised vessel and needs annual servicing.
Why does my hot water run out so quickly now?
Usually limescale. North London is a hard water area, and scale builds on the coil inside the cylinder until it can't transfer heat properly. It's gradual, so most people don't notice until it's bad.
Can anyone service an unvented cylinder?
No. It requires a specific qualification on top of Gas Safe registration, because an unvented cylinder is a pressurised system.
